I have fond memories of VBS as a kid. I don’t remember going to church very often, on occasionally, but I do remember attending VBS almost every year as a kid. Sometimes we would attend several different VBS’s over the summer. I remember hearing Bible verses, playing games, being taught lessons, and having snacks. While all the specifics are a little fuzzy (I am over 30 after all!) those memories are accompanied with good feelings.
Since becoming an adult, I have been able to help in VBS’s at different times and places, though not usually as a teacher. I might get to clean up messes, unclog toilets, pass out snacks, etc. This year I was blessed with being able to teach and help head up the games. I admit it was a little scary, but I greatly enjoyed myself. We had a great craft one day with a man coming to show us the traditional Hungarian honey cakes. Not only were they pretty, they tasted great too!
I want to leave these kids with the same good memories and good feelings as they get older. Only God knows what kind of influence we can have on these children. Some kind souls influenced me as a child. Even though I didn’t get saved until I was 19, they still influenced me, and it was in a good way.
On a side note, God allowed me to live another year and blessed me with a great birthday. My family got some great presents, God gave some wonderful weather (cloudy with thunderstorms, none of that nasty heat! (^_^)) and I look forward to what is still to come. I hope you enjoy the pictures below. Thank you for praying for us, supporting us, and encouraging us.
